While bathrooms are used to help us get clean, they’re often the dirtiest room in the home, especially in busy households with multiple family members using just one bathroom. Some folks choose to hire a cleaning service to help them keep their busy bathrooms hygienically clean, while others attempt to tackle the muck and grime alone. If you fall into the latter group, when armed with the right tools (such as those listed below), you can help get your bathroom cleaner quicker, and keep it that way for longer:
- Toilet brush
This item is essential for keeping toilets clean and free from germs, but don’t forget to keep the brush itself clean, too!
- Toilet bowl cleaner
When paired with a toilet brush, this indomitable duo can get even the dirtiest of toilets clean, and you can choose a stronger product if you feel that the toilet bowl is in need of a deep clean.
- Rubber gloves
It’s always a good idea to wear gloves when cleaning your bathroom, especially if you’re using toxic chemicals, but mainly because of the myriad germs and bacteria that might be lurking in the bathroom, that could make you sick.
- Grout brush
While the grout in your bathroom likely won’t need cleaning all that often, it is a good idea to give it a good scrub every few months or so, to keep it clean and prevent it from becoming discolored.
- Grout and tile cleaner
Armed with your grout brush and a heavy-duty tile and grout cleaner, you can limit the amount of elbow grease needed to achieve sparkling grout.
- A vacuum or mop (or both)
The vacuum cleaner really is your best friend, even in the bathroom, but you may find that tiled floors benefit from being mopped weekly at least, to clean up any spillages or splashes.
- All-purpose cleaner
They’re not called all-purpose for nothing! With a bottle of all-purpose cleaner, you can get everything in your bathroom clean – do read the manufacturers instructions first, as some solutions need to be left on the surface for a few minutes in order to perform effectively at killing germs.
- Glass cleaner
A good glass cleaner can get the mirrors in your bathroom clean without streaks, especially if you wipe it off with newspaper, and you can use the same solution for glass shower cubicles and partitions, too.
- Tub and tile cleaner
Designed to cut through soap scum and mildew, this product is fantastic in bathrooms.
- Scrub brush
Separate from your grout brush, you should have another scrub brush on hand for removing soap scum, limescale and hard water stains from the shower and tub.
- Disinfectant sprays and/or wipes
The wipes in particular, are handy for quickly and safely eliminating germs from door knobs, light switches, flush handles and just about any other item or surface that’s frequently touched in your bathroom.
- Candles, scented oils and reed diffusers
No matter how clean your bathroom is, it can sometimes still be smelly, so light a scented candle, use an oil burner or choose an attractive reed burner to keep it smelling sweet.
Bathrooms should always be clean, and the best way to ensure that yours is, is by hiring a regular cleaning service. Prefer to do the work yourself? Make sure you’re armed with the right tools and products to make the task easier.
