6 Spots in Your Home You Probably Forget to Clean

Fridge cleaning

You may think you do a good job of keeping your home hygienically clean, but could there be any areas that don’t get the attention they deserve? Or any spots you simply forget to clean during your usual routine?

While you might think that forgetting to clean some areas of your home is no big deal, repeated failure to address them can quickly lead to a much bigger problem, and can even be harmful your health. Check out the following commonly missed spots in the average home, and see if you’re remembering to clean them:

  1. On top of the refrigerator and kitchen cupboards

Just because you can’t see the top of your refrigerator or any of the cupboards in your kitchen, doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try and keep them clean, because you can bet there’s plenty of dust and grime up there!

Try to clean these spots at least twice a year to prevent any harmful germs and allergens from accumulating there.

  1. Trash cans

Even if you take out your trash regularly, are you remembering to clean the can itself or the cupboard in which you store it? If the answer is no, then you need to start doing so right away! Stray food morsels or drips from waste food can easily contaminate the trash can and the area surrounding it, so clean it with an anti-bacterial solution at least once a week.

  1. Your broom and other cleaning tools

Your home is only ever as clean as the tools you use to clean it with, so cleaning all of your tools regularly is a must for a healthy, bacteria free home.

  1. Ceiling fans and lamps

Eventually, your ceiling fans will start to show signs of dust and dirt building up on top of them, but long before these signs, you can guarantee they’ll already have a thick coating of yucky grime on them. What happens each time you switch your ceiling fans on, is that when left uncleaned for long periods of time, the dust and debris spreads all around your home. Dust will also settle on the top of any lamps you have, along with other types of light fittings, and hiring a cleaner to come in with all the right tools and equipment to get the job done, is often the easiest and quickest solution.

  1. Pillows and mattresses

Mattress and pillow protectors alone aren’t enough to keep your bed completely free from dead skin cells, sweat and dirt, so to help prevent germs from becoming a problem when you sleep, wash your pillows every couple of months or so, and vacuum your mattress on both sides. This should of course be coupled with washing the rest of your bedding at least once a fortnight.

  1. Reusable grocery bags

Having a grocery bag that you reuse is a great idea and a wonderful way to help take care of the environment, but you should try to remember to wash it regularly to prevent any nasty bacteria and dirt from lurking in the bottom and spreading to your grocery items.

With a professional cleaner visiting your home at least once a week, every forgotten spot, will be spotlessly clean!
