Nobody enjoys cleaning their bathroom, but as it’s one of the most frequently used rooms in the home, it’s an unfortunate necessity. The following seven tips, however, will help you clean your bathroom quickly and effectively and help keep hygiene levels up:
- Wipe all surfaces often
An antibacterial cleaner and a cloth are all you need for this task; it’s a simple task butmust be done regularly if it’s to be effective.
- Clean your toilet weekly at least
The more often you can clean your toilet, the better, but if you do it at least once a week, that should help keep it hygienically clean. It’s a quick task and requires a cloth and some bleach, that’s it.
- Scrub the walls/tiles regularly
Mold can quickly build up on many surfaces within your bathroom, but if you try to scrub the floors and tiles at least once a month (more often, depending upon the condition of your bathroom and how many people are using it). Grouting can become especially moldy, and this may require more frequent cleaning; use an old toothbrush to reach into every little corner.
- Eliminate limescale from glass
Weekly cleaning of all glass in your bathroom, from mirrors to shower stalls, will keep it looking shiny, and help to preserve it and prevent it from becoming damaged and dirty beyond repair. Vinegar and lemon juice work wonders, or simply buy a store-bought solution and spray liberally over glass surfaces before wiping down with a cloth.
- Rinse your sinks
Sinks can get smelly and dirty from frequent use, but a simple wipe down with a cleaning solution after every use, or at least once a day, will keep them looking and smelling cleaner.
- Pay attention to your shower curtains
If the shower curtains will fit in your washing machine, throw them in and wash them on a hot cycle, otherwise, place it in a large bucket of warm, bleach water, or place it in the tub and let it soak for a couple of hours before rehanging it.
- Showerhead descaling
All showerheads will be affected by limescale at some point or another, and it’s important to try and clean them periodically. The easiest way is to remove the head and leave it soaking in a solution of vinegar and water overnight, before giving it a light scrub if necessary. For tougher stains and limescale build-up, you might need to scrub harder or use a pin or needle to unclog the holes.
If this all sounds like way too much effort for you, or you simply don’t have the time to follow these tips, you could always call up a professional cleaning service, and have them come in and spruce up your bathroom in a jiffy.
