9 Tips for A Clean Home Even with Pets

Pet cleaning

Pets make a home complete, but the smell they leave behind is not quite as welcome! Fortunately, by following these 9 tips, you can keep your home clean, even with pets:

  1. Keep your pets clean

Bathing and grooming your pets frequently can help to keep your home clean, too. By removing dander, debris and dirt from their fur, you can prevent it from transferring to your furniture, and keep them, and your home, smelling fresh and clean.

  1. Vacuum frequently

For all of the dander that grooming doesn’t eliminate, frequent vacuuming can help keep it under control.

  1. Groom your pets often

Regular grooming of your pets will help keep dander to a minimum, and doing it outside (if possible) is even better.

  1. Cover your furniture

If your pets often sleep on your furniture, try covering it with a blanket or sheet so that you can easily wash them, or if choosing furniture for your home, select a fabric that’s easy to wipe down, such as leather or microfiber.

  1. Stop dirt at the door

Keep some pet wipes close to the door so that you can wipe your pets paws before they come back into the house, or place a towel or mat there for them to step on and get rid of any grime.

  1. Clean stains quickly

If your pet has an accident on your carpet or rug, clean it up immediately to prevent it from permanently staining and/or smelling.

  1. Air your home

If weather permits, try to open some windows from time to time to help the smell of your pets dissipate, and let the fresh air in.

  1. Place mats under your pet’s bowls

Even the cleanest of pets have a tendency to spill their food or water when eating, but by simply placing a rubberized mat under the bowls, you can prevent your floor from getting dirty and smelly. Just remember to wash the mats frequently, too.

  1. Clean your pets’ beds often

Even if your pet sleeps on a blanket and not on a bed, be sure to wash it regularly to keep it, and your home, smelling clean and fresh. Some beds may fit in the washing machine, but otherwise, simply hand wash them.

If you don’t have time to clean up after your pets, simply have a professional cleaner come in as often as necessary and help keep your home fresh and clean.
