De-Clutter Your Home And Make Cleaning It Easier

Declutter Your Home

Cleaning our homes can be a task that many of us certainly don’t relish, but when there is clutter everywhere, the task is made even harder, and takes even longer to complete. Common sense should tell us that the less items there are to clean or clean around, then the quicker and easier cleaning our homes would be. However, since clutter can mean different things to different people, it’s not always simple to know how to de-clutter the home. Should you be utterly ruthless and get rid of anything that collects dust, or should you carefully evaluate your home to try and establish what qualifies as being clutter, and what doesn’t?

What exactly constitutes as ‘clutter’?

As mentioned above, clutter can be entirely subjective, that said, most of us will agree that having magazines, clothes and other objects strewn around the house making it look untidy, constitutes as clutter and if you’re going to make cleaning your home easier, then you need to either tidy the items away or get rid of them.

How to quickly and simply de-clutter your home:

Gathering together items in the home that have been left lying around and sorting them into piles of ‘keep and use’, ‘give away’, ‘sell’ or ‘recycle’ is perhaps the most methodical manner of tidying up cluttered things. If possible, have a selection of boxes ready to put the items straight into. Once you’ve done this, you’ll doubtless feel better already.

How to avoid cluttering up your home again:

Once you’ve removed some of the clutter from your home, the last thing you want to do is start building it all up again. To try and prevent clutter from taking over your home, you need to minimise what comes into your home as potential clutter in the first place. Mail that comes in should be sorted through right away, excess packaging can be recycled as appropriate, shoes belong in the rack, coats and jackets on hooks etc.

You should also think carefully before you buy any items that have the potential to become clutter, do you really need them, will you ever use them, can they be stored in a cupboard or drawer out of sight?

Cleaning is so much simpler in a tidy home:

When there is less clutter in the home, cleaning becomes far less of a mammoth task and it will stay cleaner for longer, too. There are less items to run the vacuum cleaner around, less items to pick up and throw out of the way as you go from room to room, and less items to gather dust.

While some of us are naturally untidy and tend to leave things lying around the home without bothering to put them away, you will need to change your habits if you want a clean and tidy home, it’s as simple as that. Even if you hire a cleaning company to come in and work over your home, they will charge you money for the time spent picking up detritus and putting it someplace else, and that makes no sense at all.
