We often jokingly refer to professional cleaners as being ‘fairies’, as if in some way they secretly enter our homes while we’re sleeping and make all our cleaning catastrophes and dirt disasters look as if they never happened. This is not the reality, of course, but since they so often help us with tasks we are not keen to carry out ourselves, and do such a great job of it, we are inclined to view them as mythical creatures!
Every individual will have a different concept of ‘clean’, and these standards can vary significantly from person to person. However, even if your idea of unclean is having a single crumb on your kitchen floor, or a solitary smear on a mirror, you are just as entitled as someone with a truly dirty home, to call in a professional cleaner. Whatever your standards of cleanliness are, if you have a hectic schedule that doesn’t give you time to keep your home as clean as you’d like it to be, or sickness or injury has left you unable to perform housework, you have every right to seek help. No cleaning company will turn down work because a property is too clean, and certainly not because it’s too dirty either!
For some folks, the idea of having a cleaner – whether professional or on a more casual basis – is one that they are not comfortable with for a variety of reasons. Some may feel that they should be keeping their own home clean, or that their neighbours will view them in a different light if they find out they have a cleaner. An element of snobbery can sometimes come into play, with the concept of home cleaners being affordable only for the rich and famous, or those who feel cleaning is beneath them! However, these concepts are somewhat out-dated and many ordinary families and individuals engage with professional cleaning services nowadays.
If keeping your home clean is proving too much for you, for whatever reason, you shouldn’t waste time thinking about whether it’s morally right for you to pay someone else to do it, or what the neighbours might think, you should just call them up and see what price plan they can offer you. Your home should be a sanctuary and coming back to a dirty environment after a hard day at work is not good for morale, aside from the fact that you may feel embarrassed to welcome visitors to your home, or that the dirt and grime is becoming a health risk for other members of your household, particularly young children.
You may not believe in fairies, but you should certainly believe in professional home cleaners, and if they can’t make your home cleaning dreams come true, nobody can!
