A Beginners Guide To Cleaning Your Bathroom

Blitz your Bathroom

While some of us seem to be genetically predisposed to cleaning and are very good at it when it comes to our homes, others are either not fond of cleaning or have always had somebody else to do it for them, hence they will need these beginners to guide to cleaning their bathroom. There are no judgments to be made. You need a little advice, no questions asked, and here it is!

How to clean your toilet:

For all these bathroom cleaning tips, you can either make your own solutions from natural ingredients such as lemons, vinegar, and baking soda or use a shop bought product. When you want to get something hygienically clean and bacteria free, however, there is no substitute for bleach, and it’s recommended to use this (or a product that contains it) for keeping your toilet clean.

It’s important when cleaning the toilet bowl, that you squirt bleach or a similar product under the rim and leave it to sit for a few minutes. Then, use a scrubbing brush to thoroughly clean the interior of the toilet, and flush with bleach to eliminate any residue. Using an anti-bacterial spray, coat the seat, lid, and tank and wipe clean with a sponge or rag.

Cleaning the tub and shower:

Use your chosen cleaning solution to spray down the tub, shower walls and curtain (or glass door), and wipe clean with warm water using a sponge or rag (be sure not to use the same one that you cleaned the toilet with!). A combination of lemon, baking soda and vinegar works wonderfully well, and vinegar is especially effective on the glass. If your shower curtain can fit in your washing machine, then this is a great way of getting it clean and smelling fresh.

Getting bathroom surfaces and fixtures clean:

Liberally spray an all-purpose cleaner over all surfaces and once you’ve filled your sink with warm water, you can begin to wipe them all down with a sponge or cloth. Wiping surfaces and fixtures after cleaning helps to prevent water spots and you can use an old towel to do this.

Grab an old toothbrush and dip it into a bucket or other receptacle filled with bleach, then proceed to scrub any grubby grouting with it. Rinse the bleach off using a sponge or cloth dipped in warm, soapy water and wipe dry with an old towel.

For mirrors and other glass items, vinegar and newspaper work well, in fact, many say the combination is unbeatable for eliminating smears and getting the glass to sparkle and gleam; you can use this on your faucets, too.

Dust shelves, the tops of cupboards and anywhere else where dust accumulates in the bathroom.

How to clean your bathroom floor:

A vacuum cleaner can be very useful in a bathroom, particularly as the attachments can be used to get into every nook and cranny. Once you’ve vacuumed the floor, mop it with your favorite cleaning solution and leave it to dry.

When approached methodically and carried out at least twice a month, cleaning your bathroom need not take too much time and effort. However, if after reading this beginner’s guide you’re not enthused about cleaning your bathroom, simply call in the professionals and have them spruce it up for you!
