For those of you with busy schedules (and let’s face it, that’s most of us these days!), cleaning your bathroom every day simply isn’t realistic, and for some, even getting it done once a week can be a struggle. While some may hire a professional cleaner to help them keep their bathroom clean, others may prefer to do it themselves. For those individuals, the following guidance may prove helpful in determining whether you’re cleaning your bathroom often enough:
How often should you clean the toilet bowl?
Ideally, this should be cleaned at least once a week, but depending on its condition, you may need to do it more often.
Wipe down the outer area of the toilet, handle and seat with an antibacterial cleaner once a day (this only takes a matter of seconds), and use a commercial toilet cleaner or homemade solution of borax, vinegar and essential oils, to spray the bowl thoroughly and leave it for a few hours, or overnight if possible. A little scrubbing may be required afterwards, and then rinse for a streak free, dirt-free toilet bowl.
How often should you clean the sink?
Sinks can get pretty gross, pretty quickly, and as such, should be given a quick wipe down every day, or every other day if you’re really pushed for time (or simply can’t be bothered!). Use your favorite all purpose cleaner to wipe it down and keep it hygienically clean.
How often should you clean the shower curtain?
Ideally, shower curtains should be washed every week to keep them smelling and looking, fresh and clean, and whatever material they’re made from, you should be able to pop them into your washing machine on a hot wash and with a mild detergent, to eliminate soap residue and stains. A great way of preventing so much soap and water from accumulating on the curtain, is to always spread them out flat when not in use.
How often should you clean your bath towels?
Damp bath towels provide the perfect habitat and breeding ground for microbes such as yeast, E-Coli and mold, and if you have the time, you should try to wash your towels every 3 days or so.
How often should you clean the shower area?
You don’t really want to be cleaning your shower area after every use, although admittedly, that would keep it a lot cleaner! So, a weekly wash down with a cleaning solution or natural, homemade recipe, should help keep it as clean as possible. For glass shower cubicles, try cutting a lemon in half, dipping it in baking soda and scrubbing it on the glass door to eliminate soap stains.
How often should you clean the mirror?
Some people are cleaner in the bathroom than others, and if your mirror isn’t covered in toothpaste stains and water marks, you might be able to get away with cleaning it once a week. For busy households, however, a quick wipe down once a day with a damp microfiber cloth should suffice.
If daily, or even weekly bathroom cleaning, is proving too much for you, why not hand the reins over to a professional cleaning company? With affordable rates and flexible schedules, why not give them a go – we’re pretty sure that once you do, you’ll never clean your own bathroom again!
