Deep Cleaning Your Brand New Home

Deep cleaning your brand new home

Moving home can be a pretty stressful time in your life, with so many things to shift from a to b and a million and one other things to get organised within a short space of time. Just imagine how much easier moving home might be, if you could just get settled straight in to a clean home; no worrying about what might be lurking in the empty cupboards or finding the previous owners’ bodily debris in your bathroom!

Hiring a professional team of cleaners to deep clean your new home before you move in, would mean that all you need to think about, is where your furniture and bits and bobs are going to go.

But if you do decide to go it alone, here a few tips on where to start and how to get the job done as quickly as possible:

  • Begin with the kitchen:

For most of us, the kitchen is the heart of the home and the room where we all spend a lot of time. We also prepare food in there, so it’s important that it’s clean and hygienic. The walls may need a thorough wipe over with a cloth to eliminate cooking smells and stains, and you’ll want to get inside every cupboard and place where germs and leftover food stuffs can gather.

If the stove and cooker is looking grotty, you could try using an off the shelf cleaner that will shift even the toughest grime, but a combination of baking soda and water will prove effective too, providing you use a little elbow grease! Some parts of the stove may benefit from being soaked in hot, soapy water, too.

If the refrigerator is dirty and full of leftover food stuffs and spillages, then it might be best to unplug it and let it warm up before you start cleaning it out. Most stains and spillages will shift with soapy water and a soft sponge, but if there are any removeable shelves and compartments, these are best taken out and scrubbed thoroughly, as the corners are where the muck and grime can hide.

Most sinks can be cleaned well with a diluted bleach and water combination, and if you can spray it on and leave it for an hour before rinsing it off, so much the better. If the sink pongs, simply combine baking soda with water and pour it down, just remember to leave it for a few minutes before running the faucet.

Brush and mop the floor last, and ensure that you use a bacteria-busting solution on all surfaces and counter tops.

  • Blitz the bathroom until it sparkles:

Diluted bleach, warm water and a sponge will ensure that even the dirtiest of bathrooms is quickly left looking clean again, and adding the juice of some lemons to your mixture will help to keep it smelling fresh, too.

  • Leave no stone unturned!

In all other rooms of the home, my best piece of advice would be not to cut any corners, and to make sure that every inch of every room is cleaned properly. This will not only make you feel more at ease, but it will make cleaning in the future, a whole lot easier.

If this all sounds like way too much hard work for you though, why not just get the house cleaning professionals in and have them do the tough stuff for you, leaving you free to beautify your home and add the finishing touches.
