Hiring a good professional cleaning service will almost certainly make your life easier, and your home a lot cleaner. Hiring a bad cleaning service, on the other hand, can make your life anything but easier, and leave your home far from clean.
If you’ve recently hired a cleaning service and have noticed any of the following signs, it could mean that it’s time to reconsider your options, and find a more reliable, professional cleaning company:
Poor timekeeping
The whole point of hiring a cleaning service is that they come in and clean your home when it’s convenient to you; anything less, and the relationship simply won’t work.
If you’ve started to notice that your cleaning team aren’t turning up at the scheduled time, or aren’t always able to come in and clean when you want them to, it could be time to find a company who can be more punctual, and more flexible in their scheduling.
Old and inefficient tools and equipment
There’s no excuse for your chosen cleaning company not to be using the latest tools and equipment to help get your home spotlessly clean. Or, if they’re using older equipment, it must be well-maintained so that it can continue to perform as it should. If you notice outdated equipment or dirty tools, this could suggest an element of unprofessionalism, and point to a reason for you to find another service to hire.
Speed over quality
If your cleaning service is racing through their work, but not getting things done to a high enough quality, they could be trying to get the work completed quickly so that they can move onto the next job; more jobs, less time spent on them = more money!
Your home deserves to be cleaned to a high standard, after all, that’s what you’re paying them for, so if you notice anything less than a thorough job, consider your options for swapping to another local service.
No professionalism
Coming into your home and cleaning it warrants a professional attitude from the service provider, coupled with a professional demeanor and attire. They should be dressed appropriately, communicate with you in a polite and respectful manner, and take care with your personal belongings – as well as every other item in your home – at all times.
Not able or willing to follow instructions
You are paying for your cleaning service, and your chosen cleaning company are paid to clean your home as per your instructions (provided those instructions are reasonable, of course). If the cleaners aren’t willing to clean your home in the manner or order that you wish, or simply ignore any special instructions you may give to them, this definitely warrants a review of their contract, and a possible swap to another cleaning company.
Most home cleaning companies are highly professional, and offer their customers a wonderful level of service that they’d find hard to replicate themselves, but there will always be some companies out there willing to tarnish that reputation.
When hiring, ask plenty of questions to help you determine whether the company are trustworthy and reliable, and once you hire them, know that it is your right to monitor their work (within reason; watching their every move probably isn’t appropriate) and to give feedback when necessary.
Most people have a positive experience with cleaning services; and you probably will too.
