Steps to Protect Your Home from Covid-19

Sanitizing

Keeping your home and your loved ones safe and protected from Covid-19 is doubtless at the top of your agenda right now, and we have a list of preventative methods you can take to actively keep viruses at bay:

Only take advice and guidance from reputable, trustworthy sources such as the WHO:

The only way to truly fend off a virus and protect yourself from getting sick, is by knowing and understanding the facts about how Covid-19 spreads. The minute you start reading about it from other sources, it can induce panic and a sense of fear, and that doesn’t help anyone. The WHO (World Health Organization), Red Cross, CDC (Centers for disease control and prevention) and NCDC (National centre for disease control) are all reputable sources that can be relied upon to give us up-to-date and proven information about the prevention of Covid-19.

Be vigilant and remind others in your household to be mindful at all times:

Since the virus is here to stay for the foreseeable future, and let’s face it, other viruses are also around and have been for many years, it’s important not to let your guard down, and to take preventative methods to limit the spread of viruses every day.

Frequently clean all surfaces and objects in your home:

Pay close attention to any areas and surfaces of your home that are frequently touched, such as door knobs and light switches, and sanitize them regularly. Remind other members of your household to do the same.

Clean first, disinfect after:

Cleaning dirty surfaces with detergent and water before disinfecting, is the best way to ensure that you properly destroy any viruses that may be present. Soap and water kill viruses, as do bleach, isopropyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.

Wherever possible, use warm/hot water:

Try to clean dirty laundry in the warmest water possible according to the manufacturers care instructions, and be sure to let them dry completely after washing.

Keep electronics clean, too:

It can be easy to forget just how often we touch our electronic devices, but they can play host to any number of viruses and bacteria, so it’s important to clean them often.

If somebody in the household is sick, be extra vigilant:

Frequently washing and changing hand towels is a good idea anyway, but it becomes especially important if someone in the household is sick. Cleaning kitchen and bathroom surfaces regularly is also always a good idea, but should be carried out even more often if someone is sick.

At this time when Covid-19 is still prevalent and a very real threat to the lives of the vulnerable, it pays to take good care of hygiene practices within your home. Don’t neglect your house cleaning duties, but if you’re struggling to maintain a clean home and keep to a busy schedule, you could always try enlisting the help of a professional cleaning company.
