Ten Top Tips For Eliminating Cooking Smells

Eliminating Cooking Smells

There’s nothing worse than having your entire home smelling of last nights cooking, and any guests who are visiting will be sure to pick up the smell as soon as they walk through the door. That’s not to say that what you cooked didn’t taste and smell delicious at the time, but the aroma can quickly turn stale and leave a lingering, unpleasant odour. One of the best and most effective ways of eliminating these cooking smells, is by cooking something else that has an altogether more pleasing aroma:

Cinnamon and brown sugar

Bake a small amount of cinnamon, brown sugar and butter and soon your kitchen will take on the aroma of freshly baked cookies

Cloves

Boil or grind cloves for a pleasing festive aroma

Oranges and lemons

Peel an orange and a lemon and boil them on a slow heat for a fruity scent

Coffee

Roast some coffee beans or make freshly ground coffee, this is such a welcoming smell at any time of the day

White vinegar

When placed in bowls in your kitchen, the vinegar will help to absolve any unpleasant cooking smells

Vanilla

For the homely scent of vanilla, simply soak some swabs in vanilla essence or in vanilla fragranced oil and place them in your kitchen

Baking soda

Baking soda has many uses around the home and is known for its’ ability to absorb nasty pongs. Simply place some in bowls and leave them wherever the smell is at its worst.

For other smells that may require a more intense treatment, see the following 3 tips:

Rub stainless steel

To get rid of any unwanted cooking smells that might be lingering on your hands or fingers; simply briskly rub any stainless-steel utensil and the odour will be greatly reduced.

Air purifiers

These are fantastic at eliminating a whole variety of unpleasant smells, from cooking to pet pongs.

Scented candles

While not everyone is a fan of scented candles, they work wonderfully at making your home smell welcoming, and often last for many hours.

However, if your home continues to smell rather unwelcoming, and some odours persist, it may be that you need to consider undergoing a deep clean for your entire home. Even a fridge that hasn’t been cleaned in months can quickly begin to smell, and then every time you open it, it emits a horrendous pong that permeates through your kitchen and into the rest of your home. If you don’t have the time or the energy to clean your home from top to bottom though, why not use the services of a professional cleaning company who will have many time and cost saving tips of their own to help get your home smelling sweet and welcoming again.
